Specializing in couture, embroidery, and technical craft.

What I Do

My practice spans design, technical craft, and education, with a focus on couture techniques, garment construction, and skill development for emerging designers.

  • My design work focuses on couture construction, embroidery, and technically rigorous garment development. I work extensively with hand embellishment, textile manipulation, and precise patternmaking to create garments that balance artistry with structural integrity.

  • I collaborate with independent designers, brands, and studios on technical development and specialized craft work. Services include embroidery sampling and embellishment, patternmaking, garment development, and technical consulting for projects that require advanced construction or couture techniques.

  • Alongside my design practice, I teach technical skills to emerging designers through seasonal classes and workshops. Programs focus on building strong foundations in patternmaking, garment construction, fashion illustration, and portfolio development.

Selected Work

My work combines couture techniques, embroidery, and technical garment construction. Alongside my design practice, I have worked with The Zaks Team and major fashion brands as a professional tailor, and taught technical skills to emerging designers through structured programs and workshops.

The Designer’s Story

Emma Rubinson is a couture designer and educator based in New York City. Her work explores the human experience through garments that blend dreamlike imagery, alternate realities, and psychological themes. Through couture construction, embroidery, and technical craft, she creates pieces that invite people to reveal and embrace the true colors of their inner worlds.

Alongside her design practice, Emma teaches patternmaking, portfolio development, and technical fashion skills to emerging designers. Across both her couture work and her classes, she is dedicated to creating spaces where creativity, vulnerability, and craftsmanship intersect.
